VISITORS TO THE GARDEN
This month we have had several groups visiting the garden.
A group of twelve from a local Church of England came for a tour of the garden and afternoon tea. We also had a visit from three members of the Joy Of The Earth Community Garden in Frankston who wanted to see the Department of Justice program in action.

honey from the bees

Last Saturday, honey from the beehive at the Rosebud Community Garden was harvested.

It was wonderful to be able to get up close to the hive and see Jan, who cares for the bees, do his magic.

The little smoker he used to pacify the bees wasn’t really needed, as they seemed to be feeling lazy in the unexpected sunshine. Karl had brought along protective gear so we had the opportunity to go into the area and take part in the process.

The best part, of course, was eating the warm honeycomb. It was amazingly dark and had a rich toffee flavour. Delicious!
