Wood Heater
We now have a heater in the clubhouse! It was installed last week by John Eldridge and Tom Freeman. We are looking forward to some cosy meetings and functions during the winter months.
Retractable hoses
The committee has decided to purchase several more retractable hoses so that more members can have access to them. However they must be used correctly.
Please note:
1. Hoses must be turned off and pressure released before they are retracted.
2. No-one is to remove or change hose fittings.
War on Waste
On Saturday 11th May, several RCG members were fortunate to attend a Forum on Waste run by the Mornington Peninsula Shire. The keynote speaker was Craig Reucassel who is continuing his War on Waste. Many issues were discussed and initiatives by the shire were announced.
On a local level the message is Reduce, Reuse and Recycle. There were also a number of community groups with stalls promoting their programs and products which echoed this message..
Some hints for RCG members are: reduce the amount of plastic you use if possible, feed the worms with your organic waste, continue to grow your own vegies and carry your own water bottle and coffee mug. These small things add up, especially if you can convert family and friends.
Worms
Our worms are going hungry! If you are able to help by bringing your organic waste to the garden when you visit they would certainly appreciate it.( Remember no meat or dairy.) I keep a small bucket with a lid in my kitchen for this purpose.
Workshops
If any members have ideas for future workshops, discussions etc.  we would love to hear from you. If you have any skills you might wish to share or topics you wish to discuss please contact anyone on the committee. We are looking at ways to get more people involved and coming along to meet fellow gardeners. We want to improve the sense of community which will benefit all of our members.
Council Meeting at Rosebud.
We have received an invitation to attend a Community Council Meeting. This will be held at Rosebud Memorial Hall (994 Point Nepean Rd) on Tuesday 28th May 2019.
5-6pm: Reconciliation Week activities and Council Q and A session.
6-7pm: Buffet dinner
7pm: Council Meeting
Interested members may attend. This will provide an opportunity to mingle with councillors and discuss local issues.
Happy Gardening.... Sandra Freeman
May Committee Meeting
Our usual end of the month meeting will be held this Saturday 25th May at the (cosy) clubhouse at 11am followed by a shared lunch at 12. We’re looking forward to seeing lots of members there.
