Isn’t nature amazing! There are signs of new growth everywhere in the garden. The garden centres are full of summer vegetable seedlings and people are out and about enjoying the slightly warmer weather.

Exciting News!

Your committee has unanimously supported the nomination of John Eldridge as a life member of the garden.

John has been a member for the best part of the garden’s existence and has served as president, treasurer and committee member. His significant contribution has been his tireless work in practical improvements in the garden including extending the watering access, building and repairing garden beds, pruning of fruit trees and building the garden wall for the native food garden bed. He is interested in many aspects of gardening and has also run many workshops to educate and help other members.

sausage sizzle

Our next Bunnings Sausage sizzle is on Friday 9thof November. The roster has been emailed.

Don’t forget to bring your 2kg of sliced onions.

New Office bearers

As promised last month here is a photo of our committee. If you see them in the garden please make yourself known and have a chat. As volunteers they need a pat on the back occasionally too!

L-R: Sandra Freeman, Tom Freeman (President), Amalia Kerr, Karen McCosker (Membership), Dave Matthews, Irene Jones (Treasurer), Gill Steed (Assistant Secretary).
Front: Kaye Chapman & Linda Hendrix (Secretary)
*Some committee members were absent on the day.

Congratulations John and thank you from all members of the Rosebud Community Garden.

dresser - free to a good home!

Picture
We have a timber dresser which is no longer needed so if anyone has a use for it please let us know.

dogs

Just a reminder that dogs are not welcome in the garden. They dig up beds, especially where compost has been applied. It is also not safe for them as rat bait is used in the garden to keep the numbers of rats down to a minimum.

worm farm

Another reminder to those who add material to the worm farm. Please put your leaves, etc.  UNDER the straw, not on top.

Bunnings seedling donations

We had a visit from Alyce, from Rosebud Bunnings, who donated two trays of flower and vegetable seedlings. These were planted at our October monthly get-together and will bring some colour (and more bees) to our garden. Bunnings are to be commended for their community support program as they help schools, kinders and various other groups. The sad news is that Alyce is leaving Bunnings so the committee have sent her a thank-you card for all her support.

pizza night

Picture
We will be holding a pizza night at the garden on Friday 23rdof November, commencing at 5.30pm.

BYO pizza ready to be cooked in our pizza oven by our expert chef John Eldridge. (No end to his talents!)  BYO drinks also.

Hope to see you all there.
Happy Gardening,

Sandra Freeman
